Canada Slashes Permanent Residence Fees
Canada's Federal Budget for 2006 contains a reduction of 50% on the fees payable for applicants to obtain their permanent residency. Normally, the fee is $975.00 Cdn funds. This amount has been reduced to $490 for all those immigrants who obtain their PR status based on social, humanitarian or economic grounds.
This change is projected to become effective at midnight on May 3, 2006.
Applicants having already paid the fee in support of their PR application, but having not yet been granted status by May 3, 2006 at 12:00 am, shall be eligible for reimbursement.
Please contact our office for more information, or to find out how to obtain a reimbursement. Our Canadian staff attorney,
